Yeah he’s done all sorts of funny stunts – when British Airways (his rival airline) were having problems building the London Eye (a huge ferris wheel type of thing in London) he had an airship in Virgin Airways colors above the construction site saying “British Airways can’t get it up!”

Didn’t he at one point in time stand naked in one of those things that takes people up in the air as a PR stunt for one of his companies. The guy is genius. I loved your title, too!

That’s so true. there are many times when I wanted to give up, too. But then what do I do after giving up? Maybe there is really no harm in trying over again :)

@Natural Moments Yes I like the way he seeks out challenges in all areas of his life, not just in his businesses, like the crazy round-the-world hot air ballooning and so on. @Ian Peatey Yes I believe that was the case with those little yellow Postit notes. They had invented that glue years before they figured out a good use for it, now they're everywhere. @Alex @ Happiness in this World Absolutely, I realised the truth in this when I decided to run a marathon. At first I didn't think I'd have the discipline to train for long enough to do it and wasn't convinced I would actually pull it off. But by the time the big day came I'd realised that I could do it. That was the best part about the whole experience - doing something I hadn't thought I could do. Now I'm giving all sorts of things a go - with varying degrees of success :)

Love this post. I’m a great believer in aiming impossibly high. There’s a great Buddhist quotation that goes something like this: “In life we only get to achieve a fraction of our dreams, so it’s important to dream big at the outset. If you start with little dreams, I wonder what you will have lived for then.”

I’m a closet fan of Richard Branson (after reading the same book!) and enjoy his approach to life and work. I don’t know for sure, but my guess is that most of the major inventions we take for granted, were a result of a mistake of some kind.

Take cooking as a banal example. I’m pretty sure, though I can’t prove it, that some food fell into the fire by mistake in some early homo sapien camp and they discovered it actually tasted better.

I certainly enjoy him always trying to make his dreams come true about so many things in life. If one dream fails to manifest, there are many more to try out in the physical.
